Easter ROCK Hunt

Happy (belated) Easter everyone! We had a great weekend full of crawfish, cupcakes and Easter egg hunts. Well, better stated, Easter ROCK hunts. Nick could have cared less about the eggs. He was going for something more substantial and long-lasting: ROCKS!

Spring in the suburbs

People say they could never live in Houston because of the weather. You won't hear me say I love summer in Texas BUT...the trade off for the asinine humidity from June - September is the pretty reasonable weather the other 8 months of the year.
Nick is learning to love the outside too. His new favorite pastime is watering the trees with Daddy. Considering we already have sprinklers, the only issue we have with his new love is the water bill. Oh well, if you could see how happy it makes him, you would write the check too.....

Oh wow, Mama

Nick is now 17 months old and full of new skills. Every day is adding new words, new dances (that's how we know he needs to watch Happy Feet) and making us laugh out loud as he chases down Elvis, hides wooden bowls on the dining room chairs or spends as much time as possible outside.

On the other hand, one of his new "skills" was not as thrilling to me. Although, everyone else seems to have found it hilarious.

On Saturday I heard him playing in his crib after his nap. He seemed pretty happy so I let him play for awhile. When I walked into his room, it took a moment for my eyes and brain to process what I saw. There was Nick, in all his happy glory, naked from the waist down. He had taken off his pants AND diaper and was having a great time painting this crib, wall and self in, you got it, POO.

Just so we're clear, we had also been to a birthday party that morning so it was ice cream, cake and pizza poo. Take a big whiff of that! What followed was an all-at-once motion of: baby in the bath, dog in the yard (no need for him to get curious), sheets in the sanitizing wash, Clorox wipes ALL OVER EVERYTHING. And....a Saturday afternoon Dos XX for Mommy.
The best part - when I walked in Nick had one of his self-made masterpieces in his HAND and just looked at me and said, "Oh, wow, Mama. Oh, wow."

Same thing he said as he ran around at our last visit to The Children's Museum! Don't worry, the following pictures are ONLY of the Museum visit. By the way, the newly renovated and expanded Children's Museum is really amazing. We became members and plan on spending a good amount of time there. Hopefully, that will mean less "discovery time" in the crib.
